George Washington once described Charlotte during a visit in May of '91... That's 1791, as“Charlotte is a very trifling place.” At the time, Charlotte was a settlement of about 100 people. Historians say this wasn’t meant as an insult, but simply an observation of the town’s small size. We say embrace that trifling spirit:)
